It is the Latin American answer to UPS. They have offices everywhere in Ecuador, and in many other countries around the world, and in 4 states in The US (CA, NV, TX and FL). We use Servientrega regularly to send and receive company stuff, and not only for documents, but also for packages as well. And it is fast, efficient, convenient and cheap for domestic. But I must say their website is quite poorly designed and many links to other pages don't work. It is "Worldwide". When Servientrega delivers inside Ecuador, the packages go by inter-provincial buses, however it does deliver to/from outside of Ecuador as well, including the US. In fact they have a similar service to "Club Correos", called "Global Box", where you can get a Miami, FL, US address and buy things online and have them shipped to this Miami address, and they will forward the envelope or package to your door step anywhere in Ecuador in as little as two to four days. Here is the shpping rate table: http://tinyurl.com/bvwqogn The link for the companies locations in Ecuador is: http://www.servientrega.com.ec/mapa/ {{ :ecuador:information:screenshot_from_2013-07-10_17_06_38.png?200 |Servientegra document rates}} Closest one is on Gran Colombia y Unidad National - near Banco Bolivariano {{ :ecuador:information:screenshot_from_2013-07-10_17_28_30.png?direct&200 |Locations in Cuenca}} ===== Phone calling within Ecuador ===== UPDATE (March 2013): A few months ago, all cell phone numbers received an extra digit. Just add a “9″ after the first zero and it will work. The phone system is very simple in Ecuador. Just follow these simple directions, and you’ll have no problems when calling from within the country. 1) Ignore the country code of 593 2) Dial the one-digit area code. Each region has a different code. A “0″ must be dialed before the one digit area code: * Ambato: 3 * Cayambe: 2 * Cuenca: 7 * Esmeraldas: 6 * Guayaquil: 4 * Ibarra: 6 * Loja: 7 * Machachi: 2 * Machala: 7 * Manta: 5 * Portoviejo: 5 * Quevedo: 5 * Quito: 2 * Salinas: 4 * Santo Domingo: 2 * Tulcan: 6 3) Then dial the seven digit number (XXXX-XXX). Thats it – you are connected. For example: to call a land-line in Cuenca, you would dial 07-XXXX-XXX. Many businesses (and their ads) take the area code for granted and don’t include it in print – you will need this code even to dial numbers in your own city. Cell phones have a 08 or 09 area code, for the country, followed by a seven digit number. &&from gringotree.com&& ---- ===== Minimum legal salary in Ecuador ===== Dec 22 (Reuters) - Ecuadorean President Rafael Correa on Saturday announced a 9 percent increase in the minimum wage for private-sector workers for 2013, a move that may help consolidate his February re-election bid that polls broadly show him favored to win. The leftist Correa, who has won strong popular support for a range of measures including expanding access to health care and improving roads and highways, hiked the minimum wage to $318 per month from $292 per month. ---- ===== Distances within Ecuador ===== {{:ecuador:information:distances_km.gif?200 |distances in KM}}{{:ecuador:information:distances_miles.gif?200 |distances in miles}}{{:ecuador:information:driving_times.gif?200|driving times}}
