====== Blog July 2013 ====== ===== First auto accident ===== July 31, 2013 Getting out to do my business with the visa today - I had my first auto accident - hopefully the last. The nice cabdriver saw a pretty lady waiting to cross in crazy traffic - so what does he do? He stops and motions her to cross. She was cute I must admit. No sooner she had beamed a smile and crossed past us that BOOM we got hit in the back. Funny thing I was about to quip that it was worth doing for such a pretty lady. I have now changed my judgement on that. I am proud to say that I emitted a curse in Spanish - such as "Aye caramba - hombre!" probably more appropriate in Mexico. Then I had to sit there for 20 minutes as the two drivers went at it. The other guy in a rather new Honda and a woman in front went ballistic and came over cussing and cursing at my driver who seemed pretty lame in comparison. The other guy kept yelling the brake lights on on the cab did not work. Some kind of police or ranger who was walking by fortunately helped keep the two guys apart, preventing an escalation to a fight. They tried the brake lights and they did not work - but them we has just got smacked in the rear. The other guy among other things declared that he was 70 years old and knew what he was talking about. I was rather surprised because he did not look that old ( wait a bit: that is my age!) , and it was he that seemed to want to instigate a fight; and he was a much smaller guy - but full of anger and vinegar. I think this was a case of the defensive loud bark gets away - sometimes. The security guy seemed to take the side of the other guy, and kept telling my driver that when you are at fault it is better to be quiet and let the other guy vent a bit. A fellow cabdriver stopped to assist my guy - how true of all brotherhoods! There are so many cabs in this town and the drivers drive so crazy, but quite well too - that I suspect they meet such confrontations quite often. We all left the scene without exchanging a scrap of information. Now I am waiting to see if my muscles are as tolerant and quiet as I was. I guess I'll know in the morning! ====== Apartmentsfor rent ====== --- //[[Antonio Fiorentino Di Stefano]] 2013/07/29 16:01// I have 2 apartments for rent, really big with kitchen, refrigerator, microwave, washer and dryer, 50 inch smart TV with wifi, netflix, direct TV, heater, beds, sofas, new blankets. My wife and I have lived in Ecuador almost a year and a half. We love Ecuador and consider ourselves to be lucky to be retired here. We have lived in Cuenca and La Mitad del Mundo near Quito. We are now moving to Macas. Perfect weather, wonderful people, small town life, practically no crime, and hardly any expats. I am willing to share my experience moving to and living in Ecuador and answer any questions you may have. Real cost of living, medical care, crime, weather, residency visa process, why you should live in Cuenca, why you should not live in Cuenca, the real truth about living here and why Macas is Ecuador's undiscovered paradise. This iRulu tablet PC has outright defied the standards of "entry level "and makes lower prices and good quality worth its name. This MID has a 5-point capacitive touch screen, which is extremely responsive to as much as 5 commands at a time. Large and complicated games are easily processed on it like Fruit Ninja, Plants zombies and other 3D Games.

The 7" Android 4.0 Tablet PC comes with the superfast A10 1.5GHz CPU +GPU Mali-400MP and 4GB 512MB RAM allowing you to run multiple applications at once without ruining speed or performance and it is powered by Google Android 4.0.3 to ensure smoothness and functionality, users can also download thousands of APPS from the Google Android Market.

The WiFi function allows you to stay connected from any WiFi hotspot, This Tablet supports Flash 11.1, and that lets you surf on the internet without obstruction. The 7" screen has a 16:9 screen resolution making it easier to view more documents and books in one screen without having to scroll up and down.

What's the difference between capacitive and resistive touch screen ?

1. Multi-touch capacitive screen can allow multi-fingers to move zoom in and zoom out on the screen at the same time, especially suit for various large and complicated games. The resistive screen suits for simple games and web browser.

2. The capacitive screen can be used permanently once adjusted from factory the first time, and the resistive screen needs to be adjusted regularly.

3. The lifetime of the capacitive screen is longer than the resistance.

===== Amcry Swiss Restaurant ===== Carlos Teran and Julio Matovelle one block off Av. Remigio Crespo // 2013/07/03 09:14// ===== NEW ORGANIZATION IN CUENCA: BMG ===== This is to announce the formation of what many agree is a much-needed activist organization in Cuenca, and it is just for gringos. Called the Behavior Modification Group (BMG), there are no dues and no meetings. Here’s how it works. Members of the BMG swing into action whenever they hear Obnoxious Gringos (OGs) in public locations loudly complaining about Ecuador, its people, and its culture, or when they see OGs berating Ecuadorians to their face. If you have listened to reports, you know that such incidents are on the increase in Cuenca and possibly in other cities. The majority of the OGs seem to be Unhappy Economic Refugees from the north who came to Ecuador because they thought they could live on the cheap in a facsimile of their own country and who are distressed with the cultural and economic realities. They blame the Ecuadorians themselves for their unhappiness instead of directing their vitriol at those individuals and organizations that misled them in the first place. Ana Lucía Serrano of the Ministerio de Relaciones Externas reports that her office is receiving increasing numbers of complaints from Ecuadorians who want the government to “do something about the gringos.” They are referring to the Obnoxious Gringos described above, who are either overheard by the locals or who are actually yelled at by them (“Why don’t you people speak English?” or “Why are you people so slow,” etc.). It is time for the rest of us to intervene before we all suffer the consequences of such arrogance and ignorance. According to Lcda. Serrano, the government of Ecuador is definitely going to “do something about the gringos” but has not yet decided on its specific course of action. Please join our Behavior Modification Group now, before the Ecuadorians form their own BMG. Our membership list is secret and not recorded; here’s the simple oath if you join: “I will not tolerate it.” Ecuadorians are friendly, helpful people… if you are friendly and polite as well. This is human nature anywhere, but Ecuadorians do go the extra mile. You’ll get more when you give in Ecuador. // 2013/07/02 16:59// .............................. **Courier and logistics service** Expocoe Cia.
